• Harambee, week 7 / day 3

    Seven weeks is a long time. Though in the grand scheme of things, not a very long time...
  We got our last new kid today. His name is Demetree (that's his spelling, otherwise I'd have spelled it Demetri or something) Cierra was back today too, after an extended "sick leave" 
  I was pretty frustrated with her today. But that's a story for some other time.
  
    The heat index today was 102 degrees. Two degrees to cool for us to go home.
  So that is how the day was.
    Hot.
  Hot as that slang.
   I came home and had no energy to do anything at all. So I sat on the couch and read hundreds of pages of "Bone"
  
  I lost my work sneakers (I have suspicions that they might have been thrown out by some other member of my family, but it's likely that they're unfounded) Anyway, I've been wearing my combat boots to work for the past three days. That seems to be a point of endless amusement for other people involved in Harambee. Most especially Brandon, who sang about it all the way back to the machine shop today. His song was something like this:
   "Combo boots, combo boots, fat black combo boots. long hair boots, kick down the wall boots, eat fish boots, run to town boots, be old boots, drink water boots, blood boots, combo boots, it's too hot for boots, work boots, combo boots..."
   and so on and so forth, for at least five minutes.
  What's funny is that he's not funny. Really, it just got dumber from there.
    Whatever man. Yesterday I wore my horrid yellow and purple socks to go along with them, and today more than one person asked where they were. (though I don't know why they'd expect me to wear the same pair of socks two days in a row) 
   My favorite quote of the week was yesterday when LaTanya said "Anna is not playing in those socks"

   Ah Harambee.
